When to paint your closet before a Closet City custom closet system installation

click here to download the To Paint Or Not To Paint PDFWhen having a closet retrofitted, there are a few things to consider, one of which is whether or not to paint the inside of the closet. THe following information should be helpful in making that decision.

A typical closet retrofit starts with a consultation with our designer, who evaluates your storage situation, discusses your individual needs and "wish list", and provides a design based on these factors. Once the close design is approved, your work begins.

On the day of installation, our crew arrives prepared to remove all existing rods and shelves found in the closet. (You will need to remove all personal belongings prior to our arrival.) Unless you make other arrangements, our crew will rough spackle all the holes from tech existing closet structure before installing our closet material.

Since we cannot guarantee that our materials will cover the spackled existing holes, and due to the numerous variations in "standard builder grade" colors (which we normally see inside closets), our crew cannot be responsible for painting unless you agree to the service at the time of the project estimation. If you desire to have the closet interior painted on your own, this must be completed prior to your installation date.

When you contact a painter (or do it yourself), you should remove any existing wood, shelves, rods, etc., spackle holes, and then paint all exposed wall surfaces. If you do decide to paint, please let us know! We want to work within your schedule, planning our installations a day or two after painting whenever possible so your inconvenience is minimal.
